Community Toy Store Outcome Report Print E-mail

Helping local families provide Christmas gifts for their children at affordable prices! How can you help? By donating new toys and clothing gift cards, you help low income parents choose the gifts that fit their kids best! Gifts are sold at our annual Community Toy Store at 75% below retail cost. Proceeds from the toy sale go directly to The Whatcom Dream and Rebound of Whatcom County. By purchasing their own gifts families keep their pride, honor and dignity and contribute to the community. This year the Community Toy Store will be held at Birchwood Elementary School on Dec 11 & 12th. Please call 714-0700 or email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Community Toy Store 2009 Outcome Report

223 families served (779 children). In 2008 we had 80 families-nearly a 300% increase!

Approximately $16,800.00 in toys and nearly $2000.00 in gift cards were generously donated to this project by individuals, churches, businesses and folks who CARE about low income residents who live in Whatcom County!

275 volunteers helped make this year's toy store happen! Way to go Community!

Where do shoppers live? There was a fair representation from all over Whatcom County. The majority of shoppers were Bellingham residents. We saw fairly high numbers from Lynden and Ferndale and smaller numbers from Sumas, Blaine, Lummi, Nooksack, Maple Falls, Custer and Deming.

If you are interested in helping out with this exciting project next year, give us a call at 360-319-3759. Thank you to all who donated their time, talents, and treasure to the 2009 Toy Store!
